Visitors describe the capital city of Ukraine as a surprise. Cosmopolitan and vibrant, Kiev is one good hidden secret in European travel. Its various neighborhoods and administrative districts all mirror the different eras of its long history, each having its own distinct flavor, and each housing excellent bars and clubs, restaurants and cafés, museums and galleries, ancient monasteries and churches, and even beautiful beaches. Day 1

After having breakfast, start your city tour. Located on the Dnepr River, Kiev is an ancient city with a population of around 3 million people. The ancient Kievan Rus was the center of trade routes between the Mediterranean and the Baltic. It reached its peak from the 11th to the 12th centuries.

In this day tour, you will visit the world famous Cathedral of St. Sophia. You will also see the St. Andrew´s church as well as the Golden Gate. Include in your itinerary Pirogovo, which used to be a village south of the city. It now houses the outdoor Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine. Day 2

The highlight of your tour will be a visit to the famous Kievo-Pecherskaya Lavra. Also known as the Kiev Monastery of the Caves, this historic Orthodox Christian monastery is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with the Saint-Sophia Cathedral.

If you are the type who enjoys bargaining, then you must go to one of the farmer markets in the city. Bessarabsky Rynok is the best market where you will find fresh fruits and vegetables, grown locally and some are imported.

Try traditional cuisine in Kiev at a local restaurant that serves a wide range of traditional food choices. In your free time, make sure that you maximize your stay in the city. Walk down the ancient streets and see the magnificent churches and buildings. Head to your hotel for the dinner.
